Even if we don’t like to admit it, many of us will spend longer than we should trying to get the perfect photo.
We’ll try three or four (or 35) different angles and poses in a desperate bid to get the the most Instagram-able shot, while still making sure we look spontaneous and natural.
But now a fashion expert has come up with a new pose which is extremely flattering, and celebrities are loving it.
Eva Chen, the head of fashion at Instagram created the pose, which she calls the Baby Giraffe, and has explained exactly what you need to do.
She’s used the pose in a number of her selfies, and she’s had lots of flattering feedback about how her legs look in the photos.
She said: “Baby giraffe pose, explained: one foot forward, back foot slightly on tippy toes (like you’re coming off a step! This is how I discovered it, thanks to the steps in front of the #igselfiemirror ).
“Hold the phone at a straight on angle. Ignore wonky hair from being slept on. Done! #babygiraffepose ”
Lots of celebs, including Bella Hadid and Emily Ratajkowski, seem to be loving the pose and have posted photos of them doing it on social media.
And the Baby Giraffe isn’t the first clever Instagram pose of the summer, and last month we told you all about Barbie Feet .
It involves balancing on the balls of your feet, as if wearing an invisible pair of high heels, just like a Barbie doll.
It’s very flattering as, just like heels normally do, it elongate the legs and make them appear slimmer.
It’s especially favoured by stars posing in bikinis on the beach when heels just aren’t practical.
